Adapting the health labor market (Sousa et al. 2013) and positive youth development frameworks (Hinson et al. 2016), we demonstrate optimal partnerships for engaging and preparing youth to become the future health workforce. Youth in health employment is an opportunity to achieve the Global Strategy on Human Resources for Health: Workforce 2030 goals and Sustainable Development Goals including ending poverty, ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education, promoting full and productive employment and decent work for all, and reducing inequality within and among countries. In addition, for women, employment in the health sector is a key contributor to women’s economic and social empowerment.
