02 Dec Poster: Operationalizing One Health through Simulations for Improved Emergency Preparedness and Management—Pilot Case Studies in Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Cameroon
Simulation exercises play an important role in preparedness. Through our One Health activity, HRH2030 has conducted exercises in Ethiopia and Tanzania to reveal weaknesses in the countries’ epidemic response systems and build action plans to address them. In Ethiopia, the simulation tested the effectiveness of the country’s Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Preparedness and Response Plan. In Tanzania, the country needed to increase the preparedness of its border regions with the DRC against a potential Ebola virus outbreak. These simulations use the One Health approach to facilitate multisectoral coordination and collaboration to help prevent, detect, and rapidly respond to epidemic threats, and can be replicated and scaled in other countries.
This poster was presented at the virtual 6th World One Health Congress that took place from October 30 to November 3, 2020. In addition to showcasing the HRH2030 work, it also highlighted complementary efforts in Cameron to test the Emergency Supply Chain framework, work undertaken by the Chemonics-led Francophone Task Force Order project.
