01 Mar HOT4: A Toolkit for Optimizing HRH to Deliver More Efficient Services
Providing client-centered health services requires a strong, well-managed health workforce. In order to deliver effective healthcare it is important for health facilities, national human resources for health (HRH) planners, and implementing partners to use HRH data to determine how to best configure their health workforce and services.
With funding from USAID and PEPFAR, HRH2030 has created the HRH Optimization Toolkit, a set of three tools to increase health workforce efficiencies by identifying and addressing HRH bottlenecks at frontline health facilities.
HOT4ART: HRH Optimization Tool for Antiretroviral Therapy
This tool, also available in French and in Bahasa, Indonesia, helps stakeholders optimize their health workforce for the roll-out of “Test and Start,” utilizing differentiated service delivery (DSD) models. Using routine HIV service delivery and health worker data, the tool can help stakeholders dynamically identify and address staffing gaps and inefficiencies. The tool allows users to interact with the results to examine how task sharing and differentiated service delivery modifications can optimize the health workforce to provide care that better meets client needs while alleviating burdens on the health workforce. HOT4FP: HRH Optimization Tool for Family Planning
This tool, also available in French, is designed to increase health workforce efficiencies by identifying and addressing HRH bottlenecks at frontline health facilities. HOT4FP supports comprehensive planning and management of a more adaptive and diverse health workforce for achieving FP2030 goals. It enables clinic managers (site level) as well as district health management teams, and national/regional HRH planners and managers (above site) to use their existing health workforce and service delivery data to dynamically configure their HRH planning to their own context and priorities. HOT4PHC: HRH Optimization Tool for Primary Health Care
This tool, also available in French, is designed to to increase health workforce efficiencies by identifying and addressing HRH bottlenecks at frontline health facilities. HOT4PHC supports comprehensive planning and management of a more adaptive and diverse health workforce for achieving universal health coverage. It enables clinic managers (site level) as well as district health management teams, and national/regional HRH planners and managers (above site) to use their existing health workforce and service delivery data to dynamically configure their HRH planning to their own context and priorities.
